In this course we speak of the world of things (objects, ideas) and the world of speech and discuss how languages vary in the way and the system employed to create a correlation between the two. Focus is given to the Arabic language and an exercise using sentences in English and Arabic is used to introduce a unique system in Arabic which is a crucial aspect of how Arabic actually functions.
